Samydaceae is a family of tropical and subtropical plants, its best known genus being Casearia. It has alway been of uncertain placement, in the past usually being submerged in the family Flacourtiaceae. As the Flacourtiaceae is not monophyletic and is being subdivided, the Samydaceae may be reinstated, though the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group includes it in the family Salicaceae.
